Why OMIPOKA
AirTag tracks, iPhone has SOS — both are great at different problems. Understand the difference, and you'll see exactly what a guardian card covers.
OMIPOKA Guardian Card vs AirTag vs iPhone SOS
An AirTag relays Bluetooth pings via nearby Apple devices — brilliant for keys and luggage. But it's designed for finding things; used on people, key differences emerge.
| Dimension | OMIPOKA Guardian | AirTag | iPhone SOS |
|---|---|---|---|
| For those who can't self-rescue | ✅ Dementia, kids, pets — passive ID, no action needed | N/A (locates objects only) | ❌ Needs the user to act |
| No charging / never dies | ✅ Passive NFC — never needs power | ❌ Battery swap yearly | ❌ Relies on phone battery — dead phone, no SOS |
| Cross-platform | ✅ Any phone can read it | ⚠️ Find My is Apple-only | ❌ iPhone only |
| Carries full guardian info | ✅ Key medical info (blood type, allergies, meds) + cardholder photo; owner alerted on view — one-tap disable if anything looks off | ❌ Locates objects only — no guardian info | ⚠️ Only an iPhone lock-screen Medical ID — and the finder must know how to use an iPhone |
| Anti-stalking alert issue | ✅ No such issue | ⚠️ Triggers a stalking alert if worn by others — may alarm an elder/child or be discarded | N/A |
| Privacy protection | ✅ Finder sees no personal data, yet can still send location and a message (blind-submit design) | ⚠️ Lost Mode exposes your phone number to anyone who scans it | N/A |
💡 They can complement each other: AirTag for broad location, OMIPOKA for precise GPS when found, plus full guardian info and family alerts.
Three blind spots when an AirTag is worn by a person
The anti-stalking alarm backfires
After traveling with a "non-owner" for a while, an AirTag plays an alert sound — great against stalking, but worn by an elder or child it causes panic, or gets discarded as something suspicious. A guardian card stays silent.
No geofencing
AirTag can't notify you when someone leaves a safe area — you can only check after the fact. OMIPOKA's geofencing is on the roadmap.
Lost Mode leaks your number
In Lost Mode, anyone who taps the AirTag can read your phone number — for a child, that's potential leverage for extortion. Guardian cards use one-way blind-send: the finder sees no personal data while the location reaches the family silently.
🤝 Verdict: not either-or — the best pairing
AirTag = the rough layer (which district they're in). OMIPOKA = the precise last mile (the moment they're found: exact location, full protection info, instant family notification). For children, OMIPOKA shows zero personal data up front — use both for the most complete protection.
vs 📱 iPhone SOS: those who can self-rescue — and those who can't
Apple has perfected self-rescue for healthy adults: side-button presses, satellite SOS, lock-screen Medical ID. All of it assumes the person can act. Guardian cards are designed for the opposite:
An elder with dementia won't "press five times"
They may not even carry a phone. With a guardian card on them, a passer-by taps and the family is reached — the elder does nothing at all.
Kids don't have iPhones
When a child can't recite a full name and number, a safe adult taps once to reach you — with zero personal data shown.
An unconscious person can't press anything
Hypothermia on a trail, sudden collapse — the phone may be dead, locked, or out of reach. The card needs no power and no unlocking; the person who finds you reads it with their own phone.
Android users can't see Medical ID
About a third of Taiwan's phones are Android. Medical ID requires an iPhone-savvy helper; a guardian card is a web page — any phone, one tap.
vs 💼 Popl / HiHello digital cards
They're good business cards — but only business cards. OMIPOKA is a multi-card platform: alongside your business card, the same account manages guardian cards, video gift cards and blank link cards, all within 3 free slots. Add the hardware-plus-quota design (buy an NFC patch = +1 slot) and one platform covers work and family.
In one sentence
Apple perfected self-rescue. OMIPOKA protects the moments you can't rescue yourself — discreet day to day, ready when you need to show it, and speaking for you when you can't.
